Class Descriptions

Ashtanga Basics

This practice is is a flowing form of hatha yoga. These classes focus on building a foundation for the Ashtanga primary series (yoga chikitsa), with particular focus to breath (ujayi), focused gazing (drishti) and energy culutivation (bandhas). Students will learn the basics of the practice through playful exploration and special instruction to detail and alignment. Sun Salutations (surya namasakras), standing poses, some seated poses and a modified finishing sequence will help develop a relationship of meditative awareness between body and mind.

Vinyasa Flow

A continuous flow of creative movement, with mindful breathing and meditative techniques. Awareness to alignment, strength and flexibility these classes will leave the body and mind content and pleasantly fatigued.

Beginning Yoga/Yoga for Beginners

A class for all, no matter if you are completely new to yoga or have an established practice. This class will introduce you to the basics of yoga, focussing on standing poses, hip openers, backbends and forward folds, while encouraging you breathe and let go. Venture into the unknown, build confidence, strength and stamina in this gentle paced class.

Yin/Yang Fusion

A class that combines the balancing effects of yin (passive) and yang (active) styles of yoga. The yin aspect of the class usually uses seated poses that are held for several minutes to help stimulate the deep connective tissues of the body while the muscles relax. The yang element is more active and dynamic encouraging the use of muscular activity.These classes focus particularly on the hips, the lower back and shoulders.

Core Vinyasa

A challenging yet fun class that ignites the strength of the core. You will learn how to utilize your core to make your practice lighter and discover the strength you never thought you had. Through a unique approach towards traditional vinyasas and playful partner work, you will build heat, sweat and take away something to implement in regular yoga practice.
